LILA Speech Database for Indian English
This Indian English speech database was created in the framework of the LILA project, which aim is to create speech databases to train Automatic Speech Recognition systems for telephone applications in the Asian Pacific area.
More than 1,800 speakers from different demographic profiles, environments were asked to read isolated words, digit sequences, phonetically rich words and sentences, application words and phrases, etc.
Data were collected through the telephone network.
The design and validation schemes of the SpeechDat family projects have been adopted for the LILA project with a few modifications. Validation of each database is carried out to have databases of good quality. The validation procedure checks documentation, design, file formats, speech signal quality, annotation, and number of units (words, letters, phones...) useful for training purposes.
