Spanish - Speech Database

This is a Spanish database containing 40,000 utterances. 200 speakers were recorded on location in Spain (Castillian). They are all native speakers of European Spanish (50% male, 50% female).

Technical details:
- 22.05kHz, PCM, .wav format, Lo-hi (intel)
- 4 channels:
- 1 close head-set (Shure Beta 53)
- 1 desk mounted dynamic (Shure SM58)
- 1 computer/Desk mic (Plantronics Audio 1)
- 1 array mic (Andrea DA-)
- medium level background noise: office/home, and public-place type environments

Each speaker read 200 utterances including:
- 100 Command and Control phrases
- 100 Phonetically balanced sentences

Speech material was transcribed and tagged using conventions derived from the SpeechDAT model. The phonemic representation of words is in SAMPA.

It is distributed through the ELRA catalogue http://catalog.elra.info under reference S0149.
