Buckeye Corpus of Conversational Speech
This corpus is composed of about 300,000 words of unmonitored casual speech. It gathers interviews of 40 speakers from Columbus (USA). 20 of the speakers were old, 20 young, 20 male, 20 female. They were all living in Ohio for a long time. The recordings have been orthographically transcribed and phonetically labeled. The audio and text files (ASCII) have also been alignmed (with Entropics Aligner).
It was designed to study the forms and frequency of phonological variation in the population under study.
This project is funded by the National Institute on Deafness and other Communication Disorders and the Office of Research at Ohio State University.
Note: To preserve the high quality of the recordings, they were transferred to a PC using a digital I/O card.
