Chinese Annotated Spontaneous Speech
The Chinese Annotated Spontaneous Speech (CASS) corpus is a phonetically transcribed spontaneous speech corpus of monologues with segmental, sound variability and spoken phenomena annotations.
This corpus was created to collect samples of most of the phonetic variations in Mandarin spontaneous speech. Audio archives were provided by the Broadcast Station of Tsinghua University (BSTHU), containing university lectures, student colloquia and other public meetings.
Detailed annotation is provided for 3 hours from this original database. It contains noise-free speech of 7 speakers (2 women and 5 men) who lived for several decades in Beijing, a Mandarin speaking city. They speak in a standard Chinese with slight dialectal backgrounds.
It has been transcribed at the word, syllable and semi-syllable levels with detailed pronunciation variants.
