ECHO Corpus of NGT (Sign Language of the Netherlands)
This is a corpus of video data from Sign Language of the Netherlands (NGT) with transcriptions and annotations.
It is the result of a two-year project funded by the Dutch Science Foundation (NWO). It aimed at collecting data from deaf signers using Sign Language of the Netherlands (NGT). The project is based on a similar project for the Australian Sign Language (Auslan).
The data is collected from adult native speakers from all the country (for regional and sociolectal variation). It is spontaneous or semi-spontaneous.
Video cameras used: Sony DCR-PC120E (DV), Sony HDR-HC1E (HDV).
The data is provided with real-time translations in Dutch (.wav files) and with transcriptions of these translations into Dutch and into English. The speech signal was converted into written text with a speech recognition programme (Dragon Speech Naturally Preferred, version 8). The translations are linked to videos and annotated in ELAN.
