PASL Continuous Speech Corpus
The PASL is a Japanese database ; it comprises the following subparts:
- Monosyllables and isolated words:
a) Vowels and numerals (37 items) for utterance practice.
b) 110 monosyllables.
c) 216 phonetically balanced words.
- Continuous speech:
a) 70 short sentences: sentence head word is composed of two to four syllables including all possible accent types (5 minutes).
b) Interrogative sentences (11 items, 45 seconds).
c) Sentences for speech quality test: sentences composed of syllables chosen from a set of 20 syllables of high occurrence in daily conversation (1 minute).
d) Story: Aesop's fable "The North Wind and The Sun" (50 seconds).
e) Whether report: containing familiar words (50 seconds).
f) Narrative sentences: For intonation studies (A: 30 seconds, B: 40 seconds).
Speakers: 6 males and 6 females.
Technical information: 16kHz, 16bit.
PASL-DSR stands for Priority Area project on Spoken Language (Developmental Scientific Research).
