Biosecure Multimodal Database

The BioSecure multimodal database (BMDB) contains data related to face, voice, iris, fingerprint and signature modalities.

It was collected by 11 European institutions within the framework of the European BioSecure Network of Excellence.

More than 600 people in balance for gender and age distribution were recorded in two acquisition sessions of 20 minutes.

The database provides three datasets, according to three multimodal realistic scenarios:
- the Internet dataset, including still face images with talking-face recorded through the Internet,
- the Desktop dataset, including 2D face, iris, talking-face, signature, fingerprint and hand acquisition through a desktop PC,
- the Mobile dataset, containing 2D face and talking-face sequences acquired in both indoor and outdoor environments, through mobile portable hardware (under degraded conditions), with signature and fingerprint modalities acquired through a PDA.

For the audio-video part, speakers were asked to read some digits and two phonetically rich sentences in English or in their native language (for a few of them).

This is a resource of value for biometrics-based research developments.
