Big Australian Speech Corpus

The Big Australian Speech Corpus is planned to contain auditory-visual (AV) recordings from 1100 speakers, covering variants of Australian English over different areas and social backgrounds. It is still under construction.

Each speaker is recorded during three sessions, and is asked to:
- read digits and word lists,
- read phonetically balanced sentences both in a natural and emotional way,
- speak spontaneously in different scenario: interview, specific tasks (such as Map task, ...)

Such a large corpus can be used for several applications: speech recognition, forensic speaker recognition, studies in disordered speech variation, ...
