CHildren’s Oral REading Corpus
The CHildren’s Oral REading Corpus (CHOREC) contains 130 hours of read speech (42 GB) recorded by 400 Dutch speaking elementary school children with or without reading difficulties.
It was recorded at 22050 Hz through 2 microphones (a close-talking and a desk microphone).
Orthographic and phonetic transcriptions are also provided. Annotation includes background noises, reading task-related and unrelated unforeseen utterances (made by the child and the examiner), informations on utterances directly resulting from the child’s efforts to read what is presented on the computer screen.
This corpus was created in order to improve speech recognition and speech synthesis technologies for educational and clinical applications.
