Chains corpus

This is a speech corpus which contains read novels recorded by 36 speakers under six different speaking conditions.

Among the speakers, 28 (14 male, 14 female) are from the Eastern part of Ireland, and 8 speakers (4 male, 4 female) are from the UK and the USA.

They were asked to read the novels in six speaking conditions:
- solo speech (reading at a natural rate),
- retelling (telling the story of the Cinderella text in their own words),
- synchronous speech (reading texts at the same time as another speaker, trying to remain in synchrony together),
- repetitive synchronous imitation (repeating a sentence of the Cinderella text along with a model previously heard through headphones),
- fast speech (reading all texts at an accelerated rate),
- whispered speech (reading all texts in a whisper).

This corpus was collected in order to facilitate research in speaker identification.
