VerbNet (VN) is a Class-Based Verb Lexicon, giving both semantic and syntactic information about verbs.
This is a hierarchical domain-independent lexicon, containing :
- 3769 lemmas
- 5257 verb senses
- 274 verb classes.
Each verb class is described by :
- a set of thematic roles,
- a list of members verbs with selectional restrictions on the arguments,
- a set of frames defining syntactic and semantic aspect of predicates and using thematic roles.
VerbNet mappings to other lexical resources such as WordNet is possible.
